Charlotte Goff; Discovering Self Worth, and Her Hopes to Inspire Others.

Meet Charlotte, the 20 year old dancer from Leeds, who moved to London at the age of 16 to pursue her dreams of being a professional dancer. However discovered that her heart was no longer in it, come her final year due to an injury. She has taken the past year to work on her self confidence, whilst expanding her social media alongside a new company called MII (my identity inspired) which has been created to help people find their own self-worth. In her own words, 'After a year of self-discovery, I definitely feel confident enough too dip my toe back into the dance industry.' She loves having her YouTube platform to speak openly about mental health struggles, in the hope that it will encourage others to speak up and get help if they need too.

TELL THE READERS ABOUT THE BACKGROUND OF YOUR INSTAGRAM AND YOUTUBE CHANNEL?

'I’ve only taken Instagram seriously for I’d say the past 6 months and YouTube maybe 3... I am so thankful for everything it has given me and I don’t just mean the following! To be honest, my Instagram is mainly just aimed at the aesthetic whereas I love my YouTube channel to be a comforting place people can visit for a laugh or maybe a confidence boost- which is why I do my mental health episodes. Initially my YouTube was created to focus upon sharing my mental health journey and when I created the first mental health episode and released it I genuinely felt like a HUGE weight had been lifted off my shoulders, for me it was as though it was the therapy I had always needed.

This inspires me to continue with it in the hope others will share their journeys whilst also seeing that they, like me, can overcome what ever they're struggling with and rekindle their love for themselves and for life.'

WHAT IS THE THEME TO THESE TWO PLATFORMS? 'My Instagram has a neutral aesthetic whereas my YouTube channel focuses more on mental health, self-love and self-worth. My Youtube is a chatty channel where people can come too for a boost.'

GIVE US SOME INSIGHT ABOUT YOUR VENTURE @MII.TODAY. WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND, AND WHAT ARE YOU AIMING TO ACHIEVE?

'@mii.today is my new venture has been created purely from passion, it hasn’t properly launched yet however stayed tuned because we have such exciting, massive things coming soon. Mii today was discovered by my dad and I randomly one day over a bottle of Prosecco, I felt as thought I had kind of lost my purpose in life.

It’s been a year since I left dance and that was like 99% of my life since I was a kid so for a while I’ve felt lost. We were chatting and somehow came to the idea of this company that would help excelerate people’s journeys of finding their identity through self-development therefore enabling them to live life to the fullest potential! I feel this is so important as no one ever tells you how hard it is going to be to find yourself and your purpose within life so I want to help people however old or young to do this an accelerate the journey through techniques given by Mii so that they won’t have to suffer the struggle of feeling lost.We have a lot of plans for Mii including a 7 day eBook guide coming soon, along with community access, workshops and much more.'

TELL THE READERS ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE IN THE LAST YEAR?

'In May 2019 I left dance college early. It had been my dream for so long but with an injury and my confidence at rock bottom I just knew I couldn’t go on. I constantly felt low, lost and defeated, it was the first time in my life I had no sense of direction or purpose. I wouldn’t say I was depressed but I was just going through the motions not making the most of each day. Seen as I had been through this in the past I noticed all the signs and it just clicked one day that I wasn’t going to spend my life like this anymore.I became a sponge, I was (and still am) very lucky to be involved with a wonderful network marketing company full of supportive people that encourage self development. A book that was regularly recommended was called The Miracle Morning. So I thought why not? Let’s try it. If you haven’t read this it is a game changer. I soaked every single part up, and followed the given routine, which includes affirmations, reading, exercise, meditation, visualisation, journaling and more.

I was super consistent with this routine and it made me begin to connect with myself on a spiritual level that I had never found before. It gave structure to my empty days and filled my mind with new possibilities. I can’t explain how but it was like I just got endless amounts of inspiration from the routine. For basically my whole life 99% of it had been dance, I didn’t have that anymore which had created a massive hole of nothingness in my life. I needed to try something new.So I threw myself into everything- YouTube, law of attraction, yoga, weightlifting, which helped give me slight purpose again and from consistent practice of self development I finally feel like the confident me I once was many years ago. This transformation hasn’t happened overnight but it was so valuable to me and has meant that I finally feel ready to venture back into my dream industry as a professional dancer. As well as giving me a new lease of life, nothing good happens inside your comfort zone. I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason, I believe I was meant to take this year out of dance to find myself.'

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE OR GUIDANCE ON HOW TO ACHIEVE SELF DEVELOPMENT?

'Be a sponge! Literally be super open-minded and try everything you hear because you never know what will work for you. Also trust the process, consistency is key and self development is not going to happen over night! Stay consistent and you’ll get there! Enjoy the journey and never be to hard on yourself as you learn.'

WHERE DO YOU WANT YOURSELF TO BE IN 5 YEARS. WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GOALS?

'In five years time I will be 25, I absolutely love goal setting so I’m definetly someone who kind of ‘plans’ their life ahead however recently I’ve being trying to chill out with that bit more and live in the moment! So over the next five years my biggest goal is to travel as much as I possibly can before having the responsibilities that come with a mortgage and kids etc. I want to see everything and go everywhere.

A goal at the moment is just building up residual income for myself that will allow me to travel wherever and whenever I want to whilst earning a stable income! In terms of career goals I have a few but I definitely want to have made an impact with @mii.today by then- I’d love the company to have expanded all over the UK, AND beyond. To know that we are helping people become their own best friend and live life to their fullest potential without any self-limiting beliefs. I now feel like I have built back my self worth, confidence and love enough to be able to go back to the dance industry so I’d love to be getting regular gigs all over the world! The future excites me so much, everyone has it in them to do whatever they want and live their wildest dreams.'
