Abi Else; Tiktokker and Youtuber On Fashion Styling.
Updated: Apr 26, 2020
Meet Abi Else, the 22 year old content creator from Worthing, near Brighton. She creates fashion, beauty and lifestyle content for Tiktok, YouTube and Instagram. In her own words 'I love food, animals and a good pair of joggers.'
YOU ARE ON A LOT OF DIFFERENT PLATFORMS INCLUDING YOUTUBE, TIKTOK AND INSTAGRAM WHY?
‘I started out originally on YouTube, as that’s what I watched. Instagram wasn’t even a thing in 2011… Instagram then came about and everyone including Youtubers hoped onto Instagram, so I decided to join as well as I always liked taking pictures. l fell into the hole of Instagram, and I was like I kind of love Instagram. Then at the end of 2018 Tiktok reached out to me, originally Musical.ly and they wanted me to use their platform, I was like no as its all lip-syncing, I don’t want to do that. When they said they were changing it, I was like ok and that’s how I got onto Tiktok. And now I’m on all of them and I can’t stop!’
IS THERE ANY BENEFIT TO YOU AS A INFLUENCER AND CREATOR TO USE TIKTOK?
‘Well, it’s not completely changed there are still people who lip-sync but it’s not just that, all my fashion videos I do, I put on my Tiktok. Makeup is also huge on there, obviously a lot of dancers but I can’t dance! So I guess, if you’re a blogger or creator and you do video content then it’s worth it, especially if you don’t like talking a lot, like a 10 minute You-tube video for example, and you want to just do a little tutorial, I think it’s a good platform to throw yourself into.’
OUT OF ALL THESE PLATFORMS, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MAIN FOCUS IS?
‘Tiktok is my biggest platform, with 77k followers, I feel like I should say I’m a Tiktokker but I don’t think it is my favourite platform, I do love it however I put the biggest effort into Instagram at the moment. I create videos for both Instagram and Tiktok, they both just cross over anyways. I used to be so into YouTube and the thought of creating a 10 minute video makes me ‘ohhhh, do I have to’. I have kind of fallen out of love with it, however, do still watch a lot of it.
I think there’s a comeback of blogging this year, I mean I never did a blog and I’m just not a writer, I wish I was but I’m not. The thing is with a blog, it’s your own platform so no one can take it away. If you have a blog, stick with it. Like if Instagram, or Tiktok went down I’d be like erm... However, I’m trying to figure out a way to start a blog, but just with my video content. Like hosting my own YouTube site.’
YOU PUT UP A LOT OF IGTV's ABOUT STYLING & MAKEUP. WHAT IS YOUR MAIN THEME?
‘That’s another, I don’t know, I always say fashion, beauty, lifestyle, like loads of people put them together. However, I would say I'm definitely more fashion focused and a little bit of the others. I've always loved makeup but the thought of having to sit down and film myself doing make up is like meh, I just want to to watch other Youtubers. I do love making videos, but I also want to have no makeup days, and not have to put effort in.'
HOW WOULD STYLE A PAIR OF MOM JEANS IN THREE WAYS?
‘You could style these Primark Mom jeans in 3 different ways-casual, smart casual and fancy. So just casual, trainers and t-shirt with a cardigan. Smart casual you could do like a bodysuit, with heeled boots and if you’re going out out, well you could wear a bodysuit or a crop top, a clutch and stiletto heels, not that I can walk in them… but is more dressed up and ready for a night out.’
HOW WOULD YOU STYLE JOGGERS TO WEAR THEM OUT MORE?
‘When I wear my Pretty Little Thing Joggers out, I normally pair them with a pair of chunky trainers, maybe a bodysuit something a bit more not so casual, I always make sure more is going on in the top half. I will then wear a blazer with them, that looks stylish, as though you’ve put a bit more effort in or like a big coat, that would be super cosy. Some people wear like heeled boots that are tucked in to their joggers, which looks cool. I haven’t done that before as I can hardly wear heels, so I’d have to make sure I wasn’t walking very far.’
HOW WOULD YOU STYLE A SLOGAN TEE?
'So I could could wear this I Saw It First Slogan tee with mum jeans and trainers, make it really casual or you could wear it with a denim skirt, like a more of a spring outfit. I think it looks really cool when you wear it with a short and a blazer suit co-ord. that looks really cute, its more smart but still casual. basically my life is smart casual...
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CURRENT TREND? AND HOW WOULD YOU STYLE IT?
‘I really like chunky boots, currently. Like these Biker Boots from XY London are really cool. I think they look cute with midi or maxi dress, which are casual and just contrast with these chunky boots. But obviously weather needs to get a bit nicer, not suitable for any storms!'
YOU MENTIONED YOUR OWN YOUTUBE BLOG PLATFORM, IS THERE ANWHERE YOU WANT TO GROW. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF HEADING?
‘I’ve taken the plunge, and I am now full time Creator as well as a Graphic Designer. I’m basically freelancing my life away, trying to make it. But I think I would love to bring out a product, that would be probably be my dream… you never know. I’ve always thought about a fashion line, bring out my own fashion brand, that would be my number one if not collaborate with a brand, like Molly Mae did an edit with Pretty Little Thing. If someone reached out to me, and wanted me to do an edit, I’d be like yesss, that would be cool.’
