Lydia Fleur, Time to Chit Chat.
Meet Lydia Hargreaves, a 20 year old student blogger from Leeds. She loves to write about all things fashion, lifestyle and travel, and uses her blog as a way to inspire others. She is passionate about writing, creating and taking photos in her spare time. Her blog has only been up since December but she is hoping to expand her community, and hopefully get the opportunity to work with some amazing brands in the future.
WHY DID YOU START YOUR BLOG? WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND AND THEME?
'I started my blog because I really love writing and creating, I love the whole design process of creating a blog and the fact you can express yourself in a variety of ways. I also love how it creates a platform to support and inspire others. When you create a blog it feels like you're creating your own little community, it just makes you really proud of creating it, and it is motivating to continue blogging. I originally started my Instagram with the name @lydiafleurfashion but my blog’s theme is actually fashion, lifestyle, travel and beauty. I wanted to broaden the horizon and reach out to other people who aren’t just interested in fashion and that’s why I called it Lydia Fleur. I just use it as a space for my thoughts, sharing experiences and giving recommendations.’
WHAT DO YOU STUDY AT UNIVERSITY, WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?
‘I currently study Fashion Branding with Communications at Leeds Arts University, we basically do a lot of different mini topics within that. For our first module, we had to create a fashion film, a fashion magazine which we had to write the articles for that, and take the photos. We had to also do a blog mock-up page for a brand of our choice, and also had to create mock ups for Visual Merchandising. This term we had to create a fashion magazine again, but had to write two articles and do two fashion editorial shoots. I also have to write an essay, and trend report, in which we have to choose 5 different trends for 2020 and translate them into trend forecasting and where they could go, but obviously has changed due to the whole quarantine period. In terms of my dream job something like editorial like magazine journalism or something in the social media side for a fashion brand. They are the two of the areas I find most interesting, and I love connecting with consumers and customers. I think it’s a really good way of advertising for a company.'
YOU HAVE FASHION IN YOUR INSTAGRAM NAME, WHAT ARE YOUR FASHION TIPS AND TRICKS?
‘So my fashion tips and tricks, to always go for less, as less is more in fashion and also in your wardrobe just to choose staple items, things that you will never stop liking and will stay on trend, like a plain black t-shirt, black jeans are always a good one. These staple items you know you can interchange with one another, so stick to neutrals, black and whites and you can always add a pop of colour here and there. My no 1 tip is to keep it as simple as possible with your colour scheme.’
WHAT BEAUTY AND MAKEUP PRODUCTS ARE YOU LOVING CURRENTLY, AND WHY?
‘The makeup products I’m loving right now are the NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil, I like the formula of that and it is so easy to put on, and it is affordable. Another product I am loving for ages now, is the Collection Colour Lash Mascara but the clear one, it is literally £2 from Superdrug or Boots and I just put it over my brows even if they have no product in they make them look really fluffy, adds a bit more shape to them rather than leaving them natural. The beauty products that I have been loving are the Pure Clay Detox Mask by L’Oreal and the Vitamin E Face Wash by The Body Shop, it is really good for my skin as I have dry skin. Also they make my skin really refreshed, and get rid of any spots within in a couple of days, there is a blog post all about this on my personal blog.’
WE ARE IN SELF ISOLATION RIGHT NOW, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO PASS THE TIME?
‘So now we are in self isolation I have been doing a couple of things to pass the time, I have been doing a lot of university work and recently have started doing Yoga on Youtube, this is really helped me pass the time, it is a really nice way to like wind down in the evening, and it just calms you down. Also, I have been going for a lot of runs in the morning, like wake up, get fresh air and feel good about the day. I have been using Pinterest quite a lot, to gain a lot of inspiration for various for various of things. SO whether I'm bored, or lacking inspiration I always go on Pinterest and the end result I feel a lot more motivated to get on with the day, to get on with work. There are so many pictures on that platform that are beautifully taken, and you just get inspiration and helps me clear my mind.’
WHERE DO YOU WANT THE BLOG TO BE HEADING INTO THE FUTURE?
‘In terms of the future of my blog, I would love to expand the community of the readers and I would also love to work with small and authentic brands with new products, and expand their business, whilst gaining traffic to my own site.’
