@Styledby.danni, On Body Positivity and Finding Self Love.
Meet Danni, the 22-year-old Fashion blogger and Instagrammer influencer from Brighton, who now lives in Essex. Not only does she use her Instagram and blog to share her favourite fashion trends and tips, but she also uses the platform to break the stigma about having to have the perfect body to be beautiful! She shares her own story in the hopes to inspire others. Her platforms are a place to feel your most confident instead of look at images judging yourself. As someone who has suffered from eating disorders in the past, she wants to be someone you can look up to in your recovery, that completely understands how your feeling! Which she wishes she had in her hardest times!
TELL US ABOUT YOU STARTING YOUR BLOG, CAN YOU GIVE THE READERS SOME BACKGROUND OF WHAT INSPIRED YOU?
'Not many people know this about me but I have a list of health conditions including CFS, M.E and Fibromyalgia. It is not something I talk about a lot but something I want to spreading awareness about on my Instagram platform and my blog, as it's not a topic that gets spoken about a lot. Having physical condition changes your life so much, I didn't live a 'normal' teenage life. I didn't do things like sneak out of my house to meet my friends. Instead, I spent all my time in my room. In this time I spent a lot of my time on my laptop and I came across Youtube, and this blogger called Zoella. From there it opened my eyes to this whole new world that I didn't know about. Long story short, I decided I wanted to give this whole blogging thing a go. I didn't really have any friends, so I felt like my blog gave me a purpose.
So in 2015, I started my first blog that was called Beautelle, and I shared all things beauty, fashion and life. At this time I was suffering from mental health issues and an eating disorder. I carried on Beautelle until 2017, where life got in the way and I stopped. Fast forward to April 2020 and I rediscovered my love for blogging and my Instagram @styledbydanni was created.'
YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS REPRESENTING 'BODY POSITIVITY', CAN YOU GIVE SOME TIPS ON ACHIEVING THIS?
'Being body positive doesn't occur overnight. It is something you work on over a period of time and something you can have both good and bad days with. This is something I'm still trying to learn that it's ok to not be ok. Things that really help me when it comes to body positivity is to unfollow everyone on Instagram that make you feel insecure. It doesn't matter if their friends or family if they don't make you feel good then unfollow them. Replace them with inspiring people, those who want to spread love and positivity. Get rid of any negativity around you, both physically and digitally. Another thing I find that helps is doing things that make me happy, whether that be going shopping, seeing a friend, or drinking cocktails, just do your favourite things. Girl if it makes you feel good, go ahead and get all glammed up to watch Netflix in bed. Just do you!'
WHAT OTHER INFLUENCERS INSPIRE YOU WITH THE TOPIC OF SELF LOVE?
'Gosh, I follow so many empowering women that inspire me. My favourites are Charlotte Price, Ellie Tyrell, The Megan Edit and Chessie King. All these ladies who love to spread female empowerment.
I also love Molly Hood, the creator of this online publication, she is another who loves to spread positivity in all aspects. This may sound cheesy thing to say, but I am trying to use the girl I used to be to inspire who I want to be.'
WHAT FASHION AND BEAUTY RECOMMENDATIONS DO YOU USE MAKE YOURSELF FEEL GOOD?
'Honestly, I feel like this will vary from person to person, we all have different things that make us feel our best. Some of us love a full face of makeup every day and some of us never wear makeup. For me, I love things that make my figure look its best, so bodycon dresses or any dress that have a shape to them and hug my figure. I love bodysuits and I always wear something that is a little low cut. So my advice is to wear things that show off your favourite parts of yourself. Doing my eyebrows is a must for me, I love having my eyebrows look their best. Another thing is tan. I am a very pale person naturally, so having tanned skin gives me confidence. Lastly, having a morning and evening skincare routine, I love having healthy glowing skin, so this is a must for me.'
WHERE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO GO IN THE FUTURE; WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?
'My biggest goal is to still continue to inspire females to feel empowered and spread body positivity. I love the feeling when girls tell me I've inspired them to be the best version of themselves. I love fashion and I want to continue sharing my favourite styling tips and brands, and hopefully, I will have the chance to work with fashion brands. I look at how far I've come and I just want to continue to grow as a person. I want people to look at my Instagram and blog as a positive space to go when they aren't having the best day. I'm also starting a Fashion Marketing and Communications course in September so I would love to combine the two.'
