#Skinfluencer Lisa Tustin, Beauty Talk and Sustainability.

Meet Lisa Tustin, a 32 year old content creator originally from Cheltenham, however grew up in Bristol. She studied Fashion Design at Birmingham City University, specialising in Fashion Communication and tyling. In her mid-twenties she moved into her own home in Nottingham, and is a full time Retail Manager and occasional Instagrammer... 'I probably think about clothes and skincare more than an average persona, but what else is there to think of?'

TELL THE READERS ABOUT HOW YOU MAKE YOUR INSTAGRAM AUTHENTIC AND UNIQUE?

‘I always use the same filter for all my photos, I’ve done that for years and I think it automatically creates a quite recognisable style, which for me is minimalistic, reflected in my photos. My wardrobe and my house is black, white and grey. I also use the UNUM app to plan my feed in advance, which makes it easier as you can check the colours, composition of the images, and if they work well together. I try to make sure there is a variety of posts, for example, with like beauty flat lay posts I try and make sure they are spread out using fashion and outfit posts, which is important as it's fresh and engaging. I don’t think anybody wants to see an endless feed of mirror shoots, but every now and again it works well to break up the content.'

YOU FOCUS A LOT ON FASHION, LIFESYLE AND BEAUTY, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BRANDS, AND WHY?

‘I am part of the #skinfluencer programme with Dermalogica so a lot of my skincare is from then, which I really love. Aside from Dermalogica I’ve been using a Hyaluronic Serum from Evolve Beauty, which is amazing. Hyaluronic Acid is really hydrating, so perfect for this time of year. Evolve Beauty is a brand that is all about organic beauty, all the products come in really nice packaging which is all handmade, all recyclable and cruelty free. It is really organic skin care brand, and I’ve been trying to be use more sustainable and organic beauty products. When it comes to makeup, I have a few things I use all the time. I have been using a Primark foundation, which is unheard of. The Primark foundation I think is called Double Coverage a dupe for Estee Lauder’s Double Wear, it's amazing, I really like it. With that I use the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Powder, which is something I go back and buy. Other than that, I use whatever is in my makeup bag, Hula Bronzer from Benefit that’s a big favourite of mine.'

IS THERE ANY SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATIONS THAT YOU USE DAILY OR YOU’VE JUST DISCOVERED?

‘There are a few things I use daily as part of the Dermalogica routine, which I feel like I couldn’t live without. Since using Dermalogica, I’ve realised how important it is to have a good cleanser routine, which doesn’t have to be anything really extravagant or expensive. But every morning, I use the Pre-Cleanse Oil which I love, and I then use the Special Cleansing Gel and a moisturiser with an SPF. Then in the evening I use a Face Halo, which I’ve been using for over 6 months, which I love because it is so sustainable as you’re not using any wipes or anything, so I use that to take off my makeup. Then I use the Micro-foliant from Dermalogica and I mix it with the Special Cleansing Gel, which I then use to get any leftover makeup off and to exfoliate my skin. They ar the basic products I use on a daily basis. Like I said I can’t really without them, it was really nice to become part of the #skinfluencer programme and try all these products. Another thing I use, which a lot of my followers ask me about is the Rapid Lash Eyelash Serum, which I’ve used for years. I always get compliments on my eyelashes, which sounds a bit ridiculous. But it does make a massive difference, and it is one of those products that a lot of people might be a bit sceptical trying, but it does genuinely work and I love it.'

YOU’RE A SKININFLUENCER, WHICH IS AMAZING. CAN YOU TELL THE READERS WHAT THAT ENTAILS AND HOW YOU GOT THAT OPPORTUNITY?

‘So being a #skinfluencer, with Dermalogica programme. It is definitely one of the most exciting opportunities I’ve had through Instagram. As a #skinfluencer, you are one of the first to try the products that are released throughout the year, which is obviously amazing. I think one of the most exciting things about it is, Dermalogica is such an advanced skincare brand the products are they are creating are using the latest technologies and ingredients. So you get amazing qualities, which in turn creates amazing results. Actually, the girls who run the programme are so sweet, and so helpful if you need anything like advice. It's so nice, you feel as though your friends with them. A really important thing is you’re never under pressure to post content for this #skinfluencer programme, so they’ll send you things to try and if you want to review it and post it on your account, that’s great but you’re not under any pressure or under no obligation to do so, which shows the quality of the brand when you see how many people do post content about the programme they obviously do that due to the great results.'

WHY HAVEN’T YOU STARTED A BLOG, AND JUST HAD AN INSTAGRAM? IS IT DIFFICULT TO HAVE A JOB IN RETAIL AND TRY TO CREATE CONTENT?

‘My Instagram account started because I studied fashion at university, I’ve always been into it. I’ve worked in fashion retail for 10 years now, I kind of fell into that rather than going into a career that I had planned to do at university. My Instagram account was originally outfit posts, editing photos and creating quite a creative account, almost without thinking about it. It was only a year or so ago, that my best friend actually really tried to encourage me to make it more serious, like a blog. She really encouraged me to do that, she takes most of my photos! We went to university together, so we’ve known each other for a long time. She will tell me when they don’t look good, to move, tell me to change angles. The reason I actually don’t have a blog is mainly because lack of time, as I work full time. I find by the time I get home, I literally make dinner, sit down with boyfriend and dog, watch Netflix. Sometimes, I find it hard to post on Instagram, which sounds ridiculous. I find it hard to make sure to dedicate time to engage with other people’s posts, which is something I try to do, which I need to do more. But when I look at my own account, and realise I haven’t posted for a like a week, and some people are posting every day. I feel like it is easy to slip under the radar for not posting as much. But actually, when you do post all the amazing girls who post similar content always like my pictures and comment, which is amazing.

A lot of my friends and co-workers, have tried to encourage me to start a blog or Youtube channel but I think one of the reasons why I’ve never started one as I am genuinely wondering if people would read it… I think as well I wouldn’t want to start a blog, due to lack of my time. But maybe it is something you have to allocate time to.'
